Community Guidelines
Last updated: 15 February 2026
BJJ Map is built by and for the martial arts community. These guidelines exist to keep the platform respectful, honest, and useful for everyone — practitioners, gym owners, and visitors alike. By using BJJ Map, you agree to follow these guidelines alongside our Terms of Service.
1. Be Respectful
The martial arts community is built on mutual respect, and we expect the same on this platform. The following are not tolerated:
- Harassment, bullying, intimidation, or personal attacks directed at individuals, academy owners, instructors, or other users
- Hate speech, discrimination, or content targeting someone based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or any other protected characteristic
- Threats of violence or encouraging harm toward anyone
- Doxxing or sharing someone's personal information without their consent
2. Keep Reviews Honest and Constructive
Reviews are one of the most valuable features of BJJ Map. To keep them useful for the community:
- Only review academies you have personally trained at or visited
- Be honest and fair — share both positives and areas for improvement
- Focus on the training experience, facilities, instruction quality, and atmosphere
- Do not post fake reviews, whether positive (to inflate your own gym) or negative (to harm a competitor)
- Avoid personal attacks on instructors or other members — critique the experience, not the person
3. No Spam or Self-Promotion
BJJ Map is a directory, not an advertising platform. Please do not:
- Use reviews to advertise products, services, or other businesses
- Post repetitive or irrelevant content across multiple listings
- Create multiple accounts to manipulate ratings or reviews
- Submit duplicate or fraudulent academy listings
4. Accurate Listings
If you are listing an academy, you are responsible for ensuring the information is accurate and up to date. This includes:
- Correct academy name, address, and contact details
- Accurate affiliation and martial arts offered
- Only listing academies you are authorised to represent (e.g., as the owner, manager, or with the owner's permission)
Misleading or false listings undermine trust in the platform and will be removed.
5. No Illegal or Harmful Content
Do not post content that is illegal, promotes illegal activity, contains explicit or obscene material, or could endanger the safety of others. This includes images, text, and any other content submitted through the platform.
6. Enforcement
We reserve the right to take action against any user or content that violates these guidelines. Actions may include, but are not limited to:
- Removal of reviews, ratings, or replies
- Removal or suspension of academy listings
- Temporary or permanent suspension of user accounts
- Reporting illegal activity to the relevant authorities
Enforcement decisions are made at our sole discretion. We are not obligated to provide advance notice or explanation, though we will endeavour to be fair and transparent wherever possible.
7. Reporting a Violation
If you encounter content that violates these guidelines, please report it to us at hello@bjjmap.club. Include as much detail as possible (e.g., the academy name, a screenshot, or a description of the issue) so we can investigate promptly.
8. Changes to These Guidelines
We may update these Community Guidelines from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised guidelines.
These Community Guidelines are part of our Terms of Service. If you have questions, contact us at hello@bjjmap.club.
